Marcia Pelletiere, btw, is an awesome singer, sings with The Accidentals and has a very cool album out. and I haven't heard from Nina Sturgeon in years and years. And I just got in touch with Paul Goode when Marcia first posted this photo on Facebook a few weeks ago.....and that's the deal......mmb
The photo is me with the guitar, Marcia Pelletiere, Nina Sturgeon, and Paul Goode temporarily hiding behind me. And yes, Robert, this was around 1980-81-ish! Robbie Wolliver took over the gig at about that time. I remember seeing Gerdes maybe once or twice. Eventually that building, still on 4th, became the Kettle of Fish, or something like that. My first open mic night at Folk City was in 1976.
Hope I have figured this out right. You performed there in 1980. I was a frequent patron of the Gerdes on Fourth Street. That was back in 1961-65 or there a bouts. Where was the new Gerdes located. Bleaker Street?
WELCOME and thanks so much for sharing your memories, do you have pictures? Please upload if you do, I'm thinking we can add some of these memories under the Gerdes Group on the front page do you think that will work? I'll try copy and pasting in the comments. thanks again Mary
